She received her undergraduate degree in psychology in spring of 1983 and completed her Master’s in Social Work at Prairie View A&M in spring of 1998. At the time her passing, she was employed by the Arboretum in Winnie, TX, where she was liked by both residents and staff alike.

Sherryal accepted the Lord as her savior in her 20’s and was a faithful member at Maxson Memorial COGIC where she served under early pastors Maxson and Whitaker. She last served under current pastor, Superintendent Dr. Gary Cantue – a childhood friend.
On Saturday, November 16, 2019, she went from labor to reward, peacefully in her own residence.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Starling Anderson and Evangelist Missionary Bessie Ree Anderson: brother, Lester Banks; sisters Darlene Jones Douglas, Urestine Jones Pierott and niece Stephanie Jean Pierott.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Angeliree Mays and grandson, Anderson Green, sister, Evang. Missn Karen Bradberry, brothers, Eld. Starling Anderson (Nina) and Leonard Banks (wife) all of Beaumont. She also leaves behind 2 younger brothers Arnold Banks and Arthur Banks, both of Lufkin. She enjoyed a special relationship with all of her sibling’s children and was truly a beloved aunt to 3 nephews (Daniel, Lamont and Kenneth, Jr.) and 5 nieces (Shameka, Shentel, Jermika, Shaletha and Sarita) as well as their children, a host of great and great-great nieces/nephews. Sherryal will also be missed by her cousins in the Jackson, Harmon, Mitchell and Goodman families.
