Sadie’s Journey
“Lord if I never needed you before I sure need you now.” – Sadie
Sadie Mae Andrews was a wonderful woman that is loved, missed, and will always be cherished. She was born on March 10, 1922 to John and Annie Andrews in Beaumont, Texas. Sadie was the fifth child of the Andrews’ family. She graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in Beaumont, Texas. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and remained a faithful member of Our Mother Mercy Catholic Church until her death.
Sadie met the love of her life, and soulmate, Amos George Patterson, who courted her at her parent’s home on the north side of town. Over months, this courtship blossomed and on August 10th, 1942, Sadie married Amos at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Beaumont. She loved her husband and family, supporting them with all her heart. She gave her love and talents to home and family.
During their union of 75 years, God blessed them with seven children.
Sadie enjoyed being a wife and mother. She was renowned for her cooking and baking skills. Her famous tea cakes and “the best” lemon cake are known across the world. Her talents continued as a seamstress and serving others, with wisdom and wit. Sadie found pleasure in spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sadie enjoyed having conversations with neighbors and church members. She could be found giving advice to those who needed it most. Her laughter was full of happiness and joy. She had a fire unmatched by many. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Patterson; daughter, Ann Patterson; son, George Patterson; parents, John & Annie Andrews, and four siblings. She departed from this world and went to meet her Master, Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 at home in the Pear Orchard.
Sadie’s memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Charles Patterson, Jo Helen Lewis, Gary Patterson, Michael Patterson, and Christopher Patterson; 28 grand-children; and 42 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Godchild Geral DeJean.
The Patterson clan will cherish her life and the many memories. The family will continue her legacy of love, life, and radiance.
