Leon Washington Jr. 1951 – 2022

Leon Washington Jr.

February 1, 1951 – October 22, 2022

Leon Washington Jr. 71 of Beaumont, TX; passed Oct. 22, 2022.

Services are Thursday, Nov. 03, 2022, at Proctor’s Mortuary 3520 Washington Blvd. Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 12Noon until Funeral at 1PM. Burial will be 1PM on Friday, Nov. 04, 2022, at Paradise North Cemetery Houston, TX.

Mr. Leon Washington, Jr. was the first born of three children, born to Susie B. Scott and Leon Washington, Sr.

He met and married Beverly Ann Hall and to this union two (2) children were born; Leon Washington III, and Leah DaNae Wingate.

During the journey of his life, we acknowledge three other marital unions, but no children were born in these marriages. Although during the second union a great bond was born with stepdaughter Terri Griffin.

Leon attended P.H. Holder High School in Houston, Texas and graduated in 1969. He also attended Welding School in San Marcos, Texas from the Job Corps.

Leon was a very skilled welder as a Heiliox Welder. Leon worked for Metal Forms Inc.       for fifteen plus years.

Our minds go back to a time when we loved watching him at the skating rink.  He would Skate like an Olympian winning the gold medal. It was a joy to see him skate forward and backwards to music like the Gap Band playing “Early in the Morning”. He would twirl and dance in circles to the beat of the music with grace. Don’t talk about his ability to run the balls on a pool table. Masterful, just a master like a real magician.

A new phase of his life began around March 7, 2022, when his illness progressed. It was a long and tedious journey with many highs and lows. At this time, he sent for his Pastor and requested prayer.

Leon made up his mind to ask Christ to come into his life and take his aboard in his soul. He accepted Christ as his Savior so that his transition from this world would secure his heavenly home.

Leon was preceded in death by his father, Leon Washington, Sr., Mother Susie B. Washington, Sister Marilyn Robinson, Stepson Terrell Griffin, and grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memories, Children, Leon Washington III (LeKisha) and Leah Wingate, Sister Linda Frierson of Houston, Texas, Eight Grandchildren Lyric, Demario, Quinton, Tiara, Taylor, Jasiah, Ava, Zoey, Great Grandchild Ora’ie and a host of other relatives and friends.
