John Henry Goolsby

August 13, 1947 – February 17, 2021

On February 17, 2021, God called with open arms, John Henry Goolsby 73, of Beaumont, TX; home.

Mr. Goolsby will lie in state on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 from 2PM until 5PM at Proctor’s Mortuary3522 Washington Blvd. Beaumont, TX. Funeral services will be Feb. 27, 2021 at Mt Calvary Baptist Church Renaud St. Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 8AM until 10AM. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Beaumont, TX.

John H. Goolsby was born on August 13, 1947 to the late Aaron Goolsby and Florence Williams Goolsby in Beaumont, Texas. At an early age, he became a devout member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

John graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in 1965. He later entered into the United States Marine Corps from November 1968 to October 1970. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserve Forces (Class III) until May of 1974. He worked for Union 76/ Unocal for 20 yrs. He was also employed with Foster Wheeler and spent his final years with Beaumont Independent School District.

On February 20, 1971, John was united in marriage to Shirley Woods Goolsby. From this union they were blessed with one daughter Felicia “Anne” Goolsby Lazard.

He is preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Florence Goolsby; brothers Aaron Goolsby Jr. and Meron James Goolsby, and his sister Thelma Rose Goodly.

Left to cherish his memories are his lovely wife of 50 yrs, Shirley Goolsby; his daughter Felicia Goolsby Lazard; grandsons Kenneth Lazard Jr. and Jonathan Lazard; brother Arthur Goolsby (Juanita); his loving Mother in law Vivian Woods; 7 brothers in law, 8 sisters in law; and a host of wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, God children, classmates and friends.
