Jack was born in Oakland, California on May 24, 1945 to Jack Rembert and Geralda Jean Kelley. In 1987, he graduated from the police academy. He became a reserve deputy for Chambers County and then was hired on as a patrol deputy. He also served as Commander of the Chambers County Narcotics Task Force. He was given an award from Gov. Ann Richards for his works on the Task Force. He retired in 2019. His name was very fitting, because he was a “Jack” of all trade. His specialties were welding and radio communications. Jack was known for the stories he shared of the abundant life he lived. Whether, it was a police chase of the past, a story about a gun, his two dogs Emily and Lilly or his grandkids, he definitely kept you entertained. As a young man, Jack gave his life to the Lord. He made sure to share that love with his family and friends. He was a member of Old River Baptist Church of Dayton.
Leaving behind to honor his life and remember his vibrant spirit is his devoted wife of 46 years, Nena Thomas Kelley, devoted son Jack Jr and wife Tommi, daughters, Rachel Langford and husband Gene, Laura Underwood and husband Hunter, devoted grand daughters, Samantha Kelley, Megan Kelley, Alyssa Langford, devoted grand sons Jacob Langford, Kaden and Tanner Underwood. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
