Gloria Sias Stanley of Beaumont, Texas

Gloria was born on February 3, 1935 in Welsh, Louisiana. She and her twin brother Clifford Sias were the first born of the children of Chester and Matilda Sias. Her other siblings included one brother and two sisters.

 

She moved to Beaumont with her parents in 1940 and attended the public schools of Beaumont. She graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in the Class of 1954.

 

At an early age she was Baptized by Rev. S. I. Mitchell at Scott Olive Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Youth Department, Sang in the Gospel Chorus and Choir No2., a member of the Original Gospel Stars singing group, Golden Triangle Mass Choir and GMWA of America.

 

Gloria worked for Rao’s and Baranco Bakeries as a pastry baker. She did domestic work for Dr. Charles and Judy Dominque. She retired from Beaumont ISD with over thirty years of service as a custodian.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents: Chester and Matilda Sias, brothers: Isaac Sias (Buddy) and Clifford Sias.

 

Left to cherish her memories are Daughter: Joyce Marie Williams of Denver, Colorado; Sisters: Nita Mae Lane (Edward) and Tillie Mar Young (Adam) and many nieces and nephews.
