Estus Speights Jr. of Hankamer, Texas
July 21, 1940 – June 22, 2020
God in His infinite wisdom, called our beloved Bro. Estus Speights Jr. 79, of Hankamer, TX; passed June 22, 2020.
A Public Viewing will be held from 1PM- 5PM, Friday, June 26, 2020 at Proctor’s Mortuary 518 Miller St. Anahuac, TX.
Interment will be Private in Whittington Cemetery.
Estus Speights, Jr. entered this world on July 21, 1940. He was born to proud and loving parents of Deacon Estus Speights and Emma Mayfield Kirkwood Speights in Hankamer, Texas and was the second oldest sibling of five.
At an early age and with the blessing of being raised in a faith-filled home, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Hankamer, Texas.
Estus was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School. Following his graduation, he worked in various jobs until he succumb to his illness. One of his favorites, he was a driver for the American actor Telly Savalas who played Kojak.
Estus fathered two daughters with the late Stella August: Linda Merl August and Mable Lynn August. Estus fathered two sons with the late Gussie Mae Hill: Terry Wayne Raymond and Prince Earl Raymond. Estus fathered two daughters with the Geneva Edwards: Tara Hall Banks and Evelyn Speights-Scott. He married Wanda Williams and to this union a son, Tory Jonae Speights, was born. On July 23, 1999, he married Sandra Dee Speights.
God in His infinite wisdom, called our beloved Bro. Estus home into His loving grace on June 22, 2020. Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, sister Erma Lee Speights Johnson; brothers, Denny Speights and Quedlus Speights; his daughter Linda Merl August; and nephews Rodney Lee Johnson, Jr. and Phillip Neal Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Sandra Dee Speights, his sons, Terry Wayne Raymond (Jackie); Prince Earl Raymond; Tory Jonae Speights; his stepson, Lamasio Devon Daniels; his daughters, Mable Lynn Williams (Arthur); Tara Hall Banks (Patrick); Evelyn Speights-Scott; his sister, Glenda Merl Speights Blue; his grandchildren, Daimein Michael August, Ashley Noel August, Amy Nicole August, Linda Jean Roberts, Desiree Raymond, Lawrence Earl Godfrey, Jr., Kimberly Michelle Godfrey, Eric Thomas, Princess Raymond, Trezure Raymond, Deante Gibson, Princeton Raymond, Alese Banks, Ashley Garner, Danielle Garner; his great-grandchildren, Sincere Watkins, Hunter Watkins, Jaymie Burns, Jasmyn Raymond, Trayveon Raymond, De’aisa Raymond, Kaylynn Long, Madylynn Long, Katelynn Godfrey, Leiyah Chapman, Na’Riyah Chapman, Michael Chapman, Ky’Andriah Sample.
Evermore missed by a long loving generation of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and ‘friends-as-family’ far too numerous to list, but equally admired and cherished in mutual remembrance.
