Estenia Jones of Anahuac, TX; was called home to be with the Lord on October 23rd, 2020.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020 at Bright Light Baptist Church 504 FM 2041 Anahuac, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until Funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Bayshore Cemetery Anahuac, TX.
Estenia Lee Jones-Tickles was born December 3rd, 1952 to Rebecca Williams in Anahuac, Texas.
She was a lifelong resident of Chambers County. She attended school at George Washington Carver, where she graduated and received her diploma. She then decided to further her education by going to Job-Corp, where she took up nursing and earned her certification.
Estenia was a devoted member of Bright Light Missionary Baptist Church (BLMBC), where she accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor Carol Godfrey. Estenia continued her membership at Bright Light Missionary Baptist Church (BLMBC) under Pastor L. R. Speights, until she was called to Glory. She worked in the church over the years serving in the Eastern Star, Adult Choir, Usher Board, and Children’s Ministry. At the time of her passing was serving as the Senior Women Mission President and perhaps one of her favorite, the Kitchen Ministry. She overseen and prepared menus for church events such as Anniversaries, Annual Days, and funerals. Estenia was truly dedicated to her church and her service unto the Lord.
Estenia was employed for many years as a cook and a private provider. She loved to cook, so it was natural for her to work at local restaurant favorites such as Terry’s, The Dock, Chaparral Kitchen, and Panther Tracks. While cooking was a passion of hers, she also enjoyed taking care of the elderly. She was well-known in Chambers County for being a great provider.
Estenia, later in life met her love, Dewitt Tickles. They decided to make it official and were joined together in Holy Matrimony in a private ceremony on March 4th, 2015.
Estenia is preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca. Her father, Roy Williams; brother Algie Jones, and grandson Jacoby Jackson.
Estenia leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Dewitt. Brothers; Johnnie Jones and Paul Jones. Her playsister/cousin, Marie Hardy. Five children; Brenda Jones (Slyvester), Russell Riggs (Zenora), Paul “Dewayne” Riggs (Tanya), Ternecsha Bradley (Greg), and Robert ”Dude” Boykins (Kaitlynn). 13 Grandchildren; Travis, LaVasha, Marcus, Brittney, Byron, Tiffany, ReShea, Tashawnn a, Chanta, Isiah, Niya, and twins, Remi and Mariah. Eight Great Grandchildren; Jaylon, Jahlil, Nyiemah, Maleigh, Sarai, Anthony Jr., Katie, and Marcus Jr. Daughters in Love; Sabine Johnson, Tara Gibson, and Ternia Carter. Godchildren; De’Osic West, Amari Jackson, and Dylan Williams.
Estenia also leaves some very special friends; Christina Jefferson, Clora Humphrey, Anita Antoine, Gwendolyn Monday, Lou Terry-Hardy, and Carolyn Humphrey.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
