Wilberstine Scott

June 8, 1941 ~ November 24, 2019

Wilberstine Scott, affectionately known as “Deany,” was born to Lewis & Lydia Green on June 8, 1941. She received her education through the Detroit Public School System and graduated from Northwestern High School.  After high school, she completed nursing school and subsequently became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).  She was employed with CHSD of Detroit, where she became a Pediatric Nurse.  Caring for children became her specialty for the duration of her career.  Deany loved the babies!  She was also employed at Woodland Medical and Metropolitan Hospital.

Deany received Christ at an early age. Growing up within the Church of God in Christ, Grace Temple is where she began her Christian foundation.  She then  became a member of the Calvary Church of God in Christ and later became a member of El Beth El Temple.  Deany believed in prayer and had great faith in God.  Her favorite scripture was, Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path.”

While employed at Metropolitan Hospital, Deany met her first love, Paul Sheldon Meaux, who preceded her in death.  They raised four children together. Deany loved her children and made sure that they and everyone else knew how much she loved them.  She later married Willie Carter Scott, who also preceded her in death.  Willie was a devoted and dedicated husband to Deany and her children.

Wilberstine Scott made her transition to being with the Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2019.  Her family and friends will truly miss her.  She was preceded in death by her son, Donald A. Meaux (aka Tony).

She leaves to cherish her memory, Sons: Ronald A. Meaux (aka Ronnie),  Michael A. Meaux (Cheria Meaux); Daughter: whom she called “Pumpkin”,    Paulette A. Banks (Kelvin L.
